Just looking in now, so please excuse me if it has already been considered,
but Contiki has a very small SSL-compatible crypto engine that might be
worth considering. I understand that compiled on a 6502 8-bit CPU it is
<36KB. On a 32-bit CPU it should be able to be more compact.
